| Joshua trees among the famous JTNP rockpiles. The monzogranite forming the rock piles was once a molten mass which was forced upward over the older Pinto gneiss. Erosion over the ages has stripped away the overlying Pinto gneiss, exposing the monzogranite outcrops. |
